Blame it on the Wayne, Lil.
further reinforcing the idea that black = dumb. i know that this guy’s sites show correlation, not causation, but the titles say otherwise: music that *makes* you dumb, books that *make* you dumb. and the asshats who read it will simply look at the things at the bottom (zane, a black erotic writer; ludacris, a black rapper; lil’ wayne, a black rapper) and look at sufjan and radiohead at the top and say stupid things like this:
The idea that Beethoven is enjoyed by the mentally gifted is not surprising. That Lil Wayne—as well as Ludacris, according to Virgil Griffin’s chart—is enjoyed by the mentally challenged is also not a surprise. They are rappers, after all, and nothing good comes from listening to that sort of music.
i don’t enjoy zane’s books; i hate all super obvious erotica. but i’m sure there’s plenty of people who love her books like i love french fries with ice cream.
and i hate lil wayne and his non-book reading ways, but he can turn a good phrase. ludacris can be pretty clever too. it’s no more brain rot than the pop singer of the moment. i listen to both of these artists — along with sufjan and radiohead — and for the record: my sat was 1350.
but that little bit of showboating is irrelevant. :)
weighing against SAT scores is an easy method, but simplistic and misleading — SAT scores aren’t a predictor of intelligence, simply good test taking. and it’s been proven that there is an ethnic bias on the SAT. (brown folks who typically listen to mostly rap and r&b are at a disadvantage on SAT before they pick up their pencil.)
